An unusual strategy, actually a survival-RTS. Relatively complex. Minimal spoilers. Domestic development. Early access.
The game is announced for the Windows platform.
There is also a very good one. We play as a provincial feudal lord whose peasants have rebelled. This is how this story begins.
Before each mission we watch an entertaining video.
The gameplay is a complex RTS with survival elements.
In the beginning, I recommend completing a short but extremely informative training.
There are only two story missions at the moment, but some of them make you flex your brains and strain all your strength to win.
As a foundation for the future, a beautiful global map of the world has been created, although not yet completely filled out.
We start when passing any level (in endless mode as well) in the same position, but with a randomly generated (including in the campaign) terrain and location of resources.
Our main building is the town hall, located in the center of the map. It is allowed to build your own buildings within a certain radius around. Some buildings, by the way, may go beyond this conditional perimeter; in each specific case it is necessary to look individually. And the radius itself increases slightly as the town hall is upgraded.
The main criterion for success: if our main building is standing at the end of the mission, we win, if it is demolished, we lose.
The main emphasis in the game is on military activities. On almost any mission you need to do the following:
– Repel a certain number of waves of enemy attacks that roll in at fairly short intervals of time.
– It is advisable to clear the entire location to the borders of the map from small enemy camps. If this is not done, then they will all go together for the final assault.
– Don’t let your town hall be demolished.
The defense in the game is implemented interestingly. Archers stand on the walls. On the towers you can place siege weapons or the same archers. It looks nice. Long-range units placed in buildings are invulnerable until the destruction of these very buildings.

Defensive formations.
A little about economics. Peasants are automatically sent to procurement production or some city services if they have jobs in buildings. There are all the means to see the number of available civilian units for sending them to work or recruiting them into the army (the sum of civilian and military units should not exceed the total population limit).
There are, not to say many, but enough types of buildings. There are few types of resources, but this amount is enough for an intense game.
As you complete the mission, you can upgrade buildings and units in the research window.
The main focus of the developers is now on the endless mode, apparently to fine-tune the balance.
BY THE WAY, ABOUT BALANCE AND SOME OF ITS PROBLEMS (NOOB’S VIEW)
The game simply attracts with videos (on Steam) about cool, powerful fortresses that are stormed by hordes of enemies, and our warriors are like a rock, standing under the walls from which archers and siege weapons pour fire on the enemy. Beautiful.
And so, having seen enough of this, he began to surround the city with a solid wall.
This could not lead to anything other than defeat, because the game has basic rules:
– Resources are running out. This means that at some point, very close in time, they will have to be dragged far away, especially a tree. And you have to drag it not somewhere, but to the town hall (later on to the barn/warehouse next to the town hall – still far away).
– Food runs out very quickly. At the same time, it is spent every day by the amount of the total number of units. This immediately limits the population to not be as large as we would like. Yes, there are farms and they will probably provide food for everyone. But no matter how much I played, I still haven’t gotten to them, they open on the second level of the town hall, at this time there is no time for the economy.
– For solid walls you just need a ton of resources and archers (neither really exists for the above reasons), so I used what I call aggressive defense. I set up redoubts and the enemies crash against them much better. You just need to choose the right building sites.
GALLOP THROUGH EUROPE
Although the game is already difficult, in the campaign in the second mission you can make your life incredibly difficult by going over to the side of the rebels. This will make a final break with the king. It turns out there are two storylines planned. In terms of units, the difference will only be in the starting squad and you will have to act against the royal knights, who are much more dangerous than the peasant troops that attacked before.
The game works with basic aspects that have become standard in other RTS: selecting identical units by double-clicking, units using hotkeys, etc.d.
There is magic. Soul crystals drop from enemy buildings scattered across the map. Using the received “mana” we call on various sorceries, sometimes this requires the presence of special buildings in the city.
Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.
+ Simple but nice graphics.
+ Excellent music and sound accompaniment.
+ Interesting, although still clearly unfinished plot. If there is also a video (like the ones that exist now) for each mission, then, in general, great.
+ Not too many, but enough types of units, buildings, resources.
+ Large hordes of enemies. Excellent opportunities for their spectacular destruction with magic or siege weapons.
+ There is a good Russian localization of the text.
THINGS THAT CAN BE BOTH A PLUS AND A MINUS:
+- The difficulty of the game even on the easiest difficulty is not easy. Personally, taking into account the roughness of the balance, which I described above, it seemed very difficult. Those who like difficulties should like it, so I don’t write any negatives.
– When starting any location there is a problem with the camera. It shows a black screen. Apparently, the initial camera position is somewhere on the edge of the location. It would be logical to make the starting position on our town hall, in the center of the map, for example.
– You can remove archers from walls by pressing one button – convenient. But you have to install one on the walls – not very convenient.
– Opponents are much stupider than our units. When attacking an enemy settlement, our fighters, without any special command, first methodically destroy manpower, and then take on the demolition of buildings. If opponents are still running, they switch from buildings to them themselves. During the storming of our town hall, everything is completely different – if the enemies began to break something, then they can be shot with impunity – they will not pay attention. Perhaps it’s because of the easiest difficulty I set.
RTS with survival elements, with its pros and cons. The game is in early access. The content that exists makes a good impression. There are clearly more interesting things than bad. I hope that the set quality level will last until release.
PS: I probably didn’t cover all the aspects, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments.
PPPS: Particularly warm is the fact that this game is domestically produced. We really need this kind of gamedev.
